I took a page from the contributor's book and decided to edit the underexposure first. That made editing the light spot on his cheek much easier. I used PSE5.

You're a pro! Both fixes are perfect. The shadows are gone...so is the sunspot, clarity is there. I think your fixes are excellent and it's even neater knowing that you're using Elements!
