I ♥ Faces: Blurb Book Contest - Amateurs

It's Monday and I'm HOME! I am going to see a friend today that is moving away. I'm going to miss her. While means I'll probably miss winning an e-bay auction, but that's o.k. too. There will be another one :).

So this week, I Faces is doing something a little different. The picture I'm entering today will be considered for a Blurb book they are putting together. How much fun is that? So here's my entry. My lovely daughter in a cold January from about 2 years ago. I love her eyes in this shot. Of course I'm only a little biased, LOL!

I selected the Amateur category because I do not get paid for my photography in any shape or form. I'm really just a Mom-With-A-Camera that loves to take pictures :).

Don't forget to head on over to the I Faces blog to check out all the other fabulous entries!

I am submitting this photo into the www.iheartfaces.com Blurb Book photo contest. I am granting I Faces permission to use my photo in a printed version of a book for commercial use and possibly advertising of a photo book on both the Blurb and I Faces web sites.

I ♥ Faces: Fix it Friday

So this original was gorgeous. Underexposed, yes, but I really like the way the girl looks so relaxed and ethereal. That idea guided my edits.

Here is the original:

And my edits:
First I did my regular edits in PSE5. This includes color correction and exposure correction. Then I ran Coffeeshop's Golden Vintage. It turned out just like I had envisioned:

Then I duplicated the picture, changed the top layer to b/w and erased the tulips and their stems back a little. A very soft selective color if you will.

And last, I added some texture.

So head on over to I ♥ Faces to check out the other great edits! You can try it yourself, if you want to :).

I ♥ Faces: Hats!

So here I am, finally back in town on a Monday/Tuesday so I can enter the I ♥ Faces contest. Boy have I had fun this morning scrolling through my pictures looking for hats. I made these kitty cat hats for my DD (middle) and her cousins for Christmas last year. I got some cute ones of them together, then they did this:

Child Entry:

And my husband got a new motorcycle in March. I had fun playing with the clone tool and textures and CoffeeShop's Golden Vintage action.

Adult Entry:

Head on over to I ♥ Faces to check out the rest of the entries. There's some cool stuff over there!

I ♥ Faces: Fix it Friday (Sunday, LOL!)

So I've been out of town. Again. I'm tired of going out of town. I came home and instead of doing laundry, I played with the Fix it Friday photo from I ♥ Faces.

I took a page from the contributor's book and decided to edit the underexposure first. That made editing the light spot on his cheek much easier. I used PSE5.

Here's the original:

Here's a color version:
